One of the final events of the Values Voter Summit was a Saturday breakout session on “the new masculinity,” a wide-ranging topic that one speaker used to explain how any and all pornography could lead young people into homosexual lifestyles. That speaker was Sen. Tom Coburn’s (R-Okla.) chief of staff Michael Schwartz, a longtime conservative activist who has worked for the senator since 2005.

“Pornography is a blight,” Schwartz told an audience in a crowded room of the Omni Shoreham hotel. “It is a disaster. It is one of those silent diseases in our society that we haven’t been able to overcome very well. Now, I may be getting politically incorrect here. And it’s been a few years, but not that many, since I was closely associated with pre-adolescent boys, boys around 10 years of age. But it is my observation that boys of that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than just about any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality. And that’s because they don’t want to be that way. They don’t want to fall into it.”


Schwartz told the crowd about Jim Johnson, a friend of his who turned an old hotel into a hospice for gay men dying of AIDS. “One of the things he said to me,” said Schwartz, “that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark… he said ‘All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards.”

There were murmurs and gasps from the crowd. “Now, think about that,” said Schwartz. “And if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think he’s going to want to get a copy of Playboy? I’m pretty sure he’ll lose interest. That’s the last thing he wants! You know, that’s a good comment, it’s a good point, and it’s a good thing to teach young people.”

The last comment goes back to the concern 19th and early 20th century doctors had about masturbation. They believed that developing it as a habit was worse than homosexuality and would rather see a kid trying to fuck a chicken, and I'm serious, than masturbating all the time. The reason was a logical one since maturbating is so easy as compared to meeting an interested girl. That's why brothels were legal in many parts of Europe.

Anyway, the idea was that focusing on yourself for sex was a worse deadend than homosexuality since you never had to form a relationship. When a woman presented herself who liked you and could be interested, you're already sated and not interested. I can see how porn does that, but it's not going to make a person homosexual, it's going to make them monosexual.

If you couple that with all the weird shit it features, with hot girls, then a person's standards may be set so high that they don't want a real girl, or may find her boring.

Drinking:

My parents used to tell horror stories about drinking having to do with instant addiction and stuff. Many were true and about people we knew in the community. When I tried my first series of drinks it was clear to me that I could drink but not get drunk, and so the stories did not apply to me, and they didn't. I would assume that the same holds true for kids, once they see porn they will instantly know that they aren't being made gay by it.

I've seen porn but was never "into it" unlike some others that I've known. The one thing I see is that men who were heavy into porn have a difficult time with relationships. They tend to see women as sex objects rather than partners.

It's a real shame.

I've walked in on salesmen occasionally while they had some sick porn stuff on their PC's. Beastiality, violent rape, etc.... I don't understand why some people can watch that stuff. It rots your soul.

It hooks you in. You're seeing positive stuff, like naken women, coupled with very negative stuff and so the negatives get paired with the positives. Soon, you think you like the negatives.

My mom used to tell me when I was young that in some men smoking pot would lead to you growing breast. That weed lead to increase in estrogen production in men.
