The 2010 Primaries in PA

Anyone want to get into this yet?
There is a plan by a number of people to temporarily switch to Dem in order to influence the Democratic primary and defeat Specter in it.
I'm going to be taking part in this even though I'm confident real Dems will vote for Sestak as opposed to Specter (many, MANY Dems I've spoken to say they would rather have a "real" Democrat than a former Republican who just jumped ship to avoid defeat)....so it looks as though the Dems will vote against him anyway.
But I refuse to let Specter get away from me (hehe)....I want to be able to say I voted against him, and if I can't do it as a Republican or Independent, I'll do it as a "Democrat"!

I agree. But is that Specter or Sestak?

Specter has better name recognition, but he's an opportunistic jerk, and most Dems know that.

Obama is backing Specter, but the way things are going, that will work against him, not for him.

I switched to Democrat, temporarily, a few weeks ago just so I could vote against Specter in the Democratic primary. I voted for Sestak today, and I hope Specter goes down in flames. I have hated him for decades, and if he was on the ballot, it kept me from being able to vote straight R.

I will feel good no matter who wins. If Specter somehow pulls it off, Toomey will wipe the floor with him in November; he is too old, and has too much political baggage. He is vulnerable in ways Sestak is not. Plus, even if he did beat Toomey, at his age and with his health history, chances are good he would die in office and he would be replaced by a (Republican) governor!

And if Sestak wins, the good thing there is that he is so far to the left that the Republicans will have a great time exposing him as being just as far left as Obama (and since Obama is so hated right now, it would guarantee Toomey winning.)

The polls show Toomey beating either of them in November, anyway...but Specter would be easiest for him to beat.

P.S. One of my kids voted today, for the first time!

Sestak will vote the Obama line, straight.

Toomey looks like another bum to me.

Who's the Dem with the Italian name running for Governor?...He seems the most intelligent of the bunch.

The beauty of the way it turned out is: Specter played Judas Iscariot to the Republicans, and Obama in turn played Judas Iscariot to him at the end! What goes around, comes around, as they say.

Sestak is SO far to the left (unlike Specter, who did have a few conservative actions to his credit) that it will provide a very dramatic contrast to Toomey. Toomey will look like a moderate in comparison.

I believe this, coupled with the current scandal about the violation of the Hatch Act (the WH offering Sestak a job to drop out) will sink Sestak with all but the most hardened leftists.
